The Princess and the Frog

Yesterday I had the opportunity to treat Sophie to a fantastic Princess Party in honor of the new Disney movie The Princess and the Frog (thanks to Logan's sister, Kelly who put the whole event together).

The party started at a castle with a Princess lunch complete with hot chocolate, cookies, chocolate covered strawberries, cheesecake, and heart shaped sandwiches.

Sophie was in awe with all the beautiful princess' surrounding her.

My beautiful Princess.

Sophie even got to meet Princess Tiana.

After lunch we went to see the movie. Sophie was so excited. It was a cute movie and Sophie loved it. After it was all over Sophie was a huge Princess Tiana fan and was begging for the doll. What a fun day! Thanks Kelly.

Baby It's Cold Outside

Cold is an understatement. It is FREEZING! So so FREEZING. We woke up nearly every morning this week with new snow. New snow to shovel. New snow to drive in. And new snow to play in. My kids love to play in the snow. And I ... well I am not a fan of anything cold so I usually like to stay inside snuggled up with a blanket on top of the heat register. But at least once a year I like to go out with the kids and build a snow man with them. So one sunny afternoon this week I bundled up the kids in all their gear and we headed out to brave the FREEZING.

And well ... the snow was pure powder ... so no snow men for us. But it was great for snow angels. Many, many snow angels.

And when one gets tired from making snow angels one needs to treat themself to a light snack.

Seriously, my kids are constantly eating snow. Any time we go outside they eat the snow. It is like their new favorite food. Only it probably can't be counted as a food.

Too bad though ... then I could claim that my kids are good eaters.

Don't you wish that the snow was as wonderful to you as it is to a child? Look at that smile. She's loving it!

Ducks

Last week ... when the weather was nice and not so cold ... we took the left over bread scraps from the Thanksgiving stuffing to a nearby pond to feed the ducks. It was a beautiful evening and it is always so nice to get out and enjoy being together.

The kids enjoyed squelching in the mud, finding magic wands, turning ducks into unicorns ... and back into ducks again, and of course feeding the ducks. They were hungry! And Ruby enjoyed riding on her Daddy's shoulders ... one of her favorite things!

1st Birthday Celebration

Last night we celebrated Ruby's 1st birthday. It was a fun little party and I think Ruby had a good time.

There were balloons...

And cupcakes...
Yummy mini cupcakes! They were soOOoo good. I even had some for breakfast this morning!

There was singing ... and candles ... and the cutest little birthday girl ... who wasn't quite sure of her cupcake ...

until dad gave her a little taste. Then she thought this might not be too bad!

Yup, this is delicious!

I think I like birthday cake!

There was wrapping paper ... and presents ... and brothers and sisters trying to get to the toys ... and a mom and a dad and grandmas and grandpas that LOVE the little birthday girl.

Happy Birthday Ruby!

For Ruby

For Ruby on your birthday ...

You are one year old and I can hardly believe it. It seems like yesterday I was snuggling my new baby girl ... so little and sweet. What a wonderful year it has been with you in our lives. Right from the start you have been my sweet angel baby and you still are, only you aren't so much of a baby any more. You are growing more and more everyday and developing such a funny little personality.

You are one busy girl! You wake up in the morning ready to play. You crawl everywhere, and get into everything ... your favorites are the bathroom drawers and the dishwasher.

You rarely sit still any more and certainly don't want to waste any time with getting dressed or having your diaper changed. You are constantly trying to wiggle away and cry out of frustration when we make you stop for just a minute.

At night after a full day of playing you want to be held ... a lot. You give the sweetest kisses and mommy could sit and kiss with you all day. I love to feed you your bottles and sit and cuddle you.

You have 2 little bottom teeth and a smile that always brightens my day. You can always make me laugh with your silliness. You love to play peek-a-boo and to listen to music and will wave your arms with excitement. You are super ticklish and mommy can always get you to give a great big laugh with just a little tickle. You are such a silly girl.

We love you like crazy Ruby Jane and are so glad that you joined our family one year ago. I miss the little baby that you were but I LOVE the baby that you are now and can't wait to see how you grow and change through out the year.

Love you,
Ma

One Year of Ruby

My baby girl turns ONE today!

I know I sound like a broken record, but I can't believe it.
One year ago today (at 8:21 am) I met my beautiful baby girl for the first time and have been head over heels in love with her ever since.

It is so interesting how much they change throughout the course of a year. Here is my baby month by month. I just love this sweet girl.

More posts on Ruby to come shortly.
