Happy Halloween

Our Halloween activities were many. We had a lot of fun, especially Sophie. She has had a hard time going to sleep because she is so excited for the activites that we have planned for the next day. Our activities included carving pumpkins, a neighborhood costume parade, a carnival at Great Grandpa Wise's house, trick-or-treating at Great Grandma Moss' house, visiting Grandma and Grandpa, and making the rounds in our neighborhood. All of these activities were a lot of fun, but the kids probably enjoyed opening the door for the trick-or-treaters at our house the most. Sophie even started making door bell noises hoping to trick us into opening the door. It was a fun few days!

Carving pumpkins was a good time. Sophie worked hard on her "cat" pumpkin that she created and Logan and I enjoyed carving some too. These are a few of the good ones!







The kids at the costume parade. Both kids were a little overwhelmed by the amount of kids but thought it was neat to be around so many costumed friends. It was amazing how many kids came--it was a big event!

Something Funny

I pulled the car into the garage tonight and turned off the car--

Sophie: "Hey I was watching that!" (talking about the radio)

Mom: "You are a funny girl Soph."

Sophie: "No mommy. I was watching that, put it back."

BOO at the Zoo!

Yesterday we went to Boo at the Zoo. This totally busy and wacky experience at the zoo where everyone dresses up in their Halloween costumes and waits in line for candy at various tables set up throughout the park. It really is a ton of fun. Sophie had a blast. She is so into Halloween this year. She was thrilled at the fact that she was able to leave the house in her costume. It was so fun to see her excitement and to check out all of the cute costumes that the kids (and their parents) were sporting this year.

One Of Those Days

Do you ever have "one of those days?" One of those days that feels llike it goes on and on forever. One of those days where nothing goes really wrong, but nothing goes really right either. Do you ever have one of those days where tantrums are occuring on a regular basis and crying can be heard all through out your house at all times (or so it seems to you!). One of those days where you are totally worn out and you wonder where your kids get all that energy, and why you can't seem to find any of it for yourself. Do you ever have one of those days where this is your favorite time of the day?





For me today was one of those days.

I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream For Ice Cream!

As many of you know Sophie is not the best eater in the world. We have been battling meal time and losing badly for almost a year. However, after months of feeding therapy and some good family changes (who knew that eating dinner as a family would make such a difference) Sophie is almost a new girl-- in the eating area that is. She now sits at the table for every meal--you guys don't know what a HUGE accomplishment that is. She is also feeding herself much of her meals, and trying new foods. Yahoo! One thing that Sophie loves with all of her heart is ice cream. She just can't get enough, and asks for it after every meal. This has now become our bribe. You can almost always find us saying, "If you want ice cream, you need to eat your dinner!" It doesn't always work, but most of the time it does.

We all look forward to Sophie eating a good meal. Then we can all enjoy in the screaming for ice cream.

Chipped Tooth

So the other day I was looking inside Collin's mouth examining how his teeth are coming in ( he is getting 6 teeth all at once--not a lot of fun for him or me!:)) and I noticed that one of his top front teeth has a big chip in it. I about died. My one-year-olds beautiful smile is now tainted with this horrible chip. I felt so bad. I don't even know when it happened. It had to be some time in the last week because I just had him at the dentist and he didn't have it then. What kind of mother am I? You would think that I would know when something like this happens. Collin is my climber. He is up on everything. Consequently he is also falling off of everything. Twice he has broken my parents kitchen chairs from falling backwards on them. I can't keep a close enough eye on him. Anyways because of his enthusiasm for life he now has a chipped tooth. I called the dentist in a panic hoping that they had some miracle cure. They of course said that they wanted to see him. They weren't quite sure if they could do anything, but they would like to see him anyways. So off to the dentist I go (for the second time this month). Well they tell me it isn't that bad. "Not that bad" I think to myself, "This chip is huge and ugly." Anyways, after being tied down and having a drilling to smooth out the chip with what looks like a Dremel Motor Tool, Collin had now survived 2 trips to the dentist office in his youg short life. His tooth still looks chipped, but I am hopeful that it won't discolor and that wear over time will help to smooth out the chip even more. Sorry Collin, lets hope we don't run into any more chips on those beautiful baby teeth!

I tried to get a picture of the chip, but I just couldn't get a good shot, however I did notice while snapping some photos of my babe that he doesn't smile showing his teeth all that often, and did you notice those dang cute dimples. "Cheese!" as Collin would say.

Cookie Making

Grandma came over tonight and we made Halloween sugar cookies. It was my first baking adventure with Sophie (Yea I know, I don't bake much!) and I think that both of us had a great time. Sophie was really good at cutting out the shapes and eating the dough! :) She even added her own special touch by insisting that we have a PINK cat. My mom and I also had a lot of fun decorating the cookies a little more ornately after the kids went to bed. It was a fun family experience!

Smiles All Around!

Smiles from my kids make my day! I love to see them smile. And I have to say that I have two dang cute smiling kids!

Pudding Goodness :)

I was looking through the pictures on my camera and noticed a ton of pictures that Logan had taken of Sophie eating pudding one morning. She loves pudding, especially chocolate pudding. I thought it was so funny that he had taken so many so I thought that I would post a few of Sophie in all her pudding goodness!






I'll end this post with a quote from Sophie while eating pudding. She had a thick ring of pudding all the way around her mouth and stated "I'm a lion, ROAR!" It cracked me up. I think the ring of pudding that she could feel around her mouth reminded her of a lions mane.

Pumpkins Galore!

Tonight we spent some time at a Pumpkin Patch. It was a good time and a great way to get into the Halloween spirit. Both Sophie and Collin love pumpkins. We had a successful crop of pumpkins from our garden this year and daily the kiddos are outside picking them up and playing with them or throwing them down our stairs. I am a tiny bit worried that they won't make it until Halloween. Because they love our pumpkins so much, I thought it would be fun to experience the pumpkin patch. Suprisingly though, neither kiddo enjoyed the pumpkins as much as I thought they would. Maybe because there was so much going on. They did have a good time though running around, trying on hats, sitting on tractors, and playing with friends Sam and Natalie. Oh and we did take home some baby pumpkins--I thought this might help preserve the pumpkins on our front porch at least a couple of days! :) Collin has been tasting his all evening, and Sophie decided it would be a good idea to give her pumpkin a bath with her. Cute kids and good ideas! :)
