Wow! I can't believe it is the last day of January already. January, along with February, are usually the l o n g e s t months of the year for me. The holidays are over and we are stuck with the cold and yuck for several more months. But the days are busy and the months seem to be cruising along. Here are some simple moments captured during our busy day.

Monday
Where's Lyla?
Monday is laundry day.
The job that never ends!
Often times it seems that it is filling the baskets faster that I can wash it!
But it's not that bad...
it could be the bathroom
or the kitchen floor!
I despise cleaning the bathroom...
and mopping!
And at least I have some company! {grin}

today
Ruby was here ...
and here ...
All the kids were here ...
Collin was here ...
Sophie was here ...
and Lyla was here ...
Most nights, after the kids are snuggled in bed, I sit down on the couch and let out a sigh of exhaustion. I look around my
And I love days like today. Days were the house looks like a tornado came through. Days where the TV is off and my kids are off playing away together. So although I wish my house were cleaner. I love the mess. I love the kids that make it and I love the happiness and the chatter that come with it!

slice of life
I don't know what it is lately. All of my pictures seem to be mostly of Ruby. It could be that she is ALWAYS around me {just like a little shadow}. Or it could be that she is the only one willing to sit still in front of the camera. Or it could be that I am trying to soak up every last minute of her being my baby. Whatever the reason, here is a slice of Ruby's life.

Ruby loves to play in her bedroom. And she loves to do puzzles. It is a common thing to hear her say "Mommy you play puzzles with me?" or "Ca Ca {Collin} you play puzzles with me?" It is always a treat to sit down with Ruby and play in her room.

{as you can see ... these pictures were taken before her binky was taken away!}

When having sick kids is not all bad
We have been sick. Well, the kids have been. And just when they all get better ... and things get back to normal ... someone else gets sick.
This time around it is Collin. I am sure everyone else will soon follow. Although I hope not. I have been to the doctors 4 times in 2 weeks. And filled 4 prescriptions.
I have resorted to writing a medicine schedule down for each kid ... so as not to forget when the last dose was give and to whom it was given to. And the kids hate taking medicine. With the exception of Ruby. She calls hers "princess medicine" because it is pink and tastes so yummy. She would take it all day if I let her.
Because we are sick ... and spend our day following a medicine schedule so to speak, we have been spending all of our time at home. Expect for Sophie. She still goes to school and gets to enjoy the freedom of leaving the house!

We have watched a lot of TV ... and movies. On Saturday feeling like if I had to hear the theme song to Wonder Pets one more time I might scream I decided to come up with something for us all to do.
Play dough! Or Model Magic if you want to get technical. We just call it play dough. It was genius really. At first I only had the attention of the younger two ... but upon seeing what great things could be created, Sophie soon was enjoying herself as well.
We were kept busy for at least an hour. And I put off getting dinner ready and played right along with them. It was perfect. It is times like this when I wonder if having sick kids is really all that bad.
Until I get woken up 476 times that night ... then I long for my kids to be healthy again!

... Ruby learned how to work Netflix all by herself {thats right people, she's two!}
... Sophie talked us all into doing a craft for Groundhogs Day {it's tomorrow!}
... I read my book
... I listened to my children play together
... I listened to my children fight with each other
... I washed 3 heads of hair
... I listened to my husband read stories to the kids
... I ate milk and cookies!

A Year in Review {Picture Style}
I wanted to post my very favorite photos from 2010, but looking back I realized that I have so many that I LOVE. So many that bring back such great memories. So many that make me smile. So many that I had such a hard time narrowing them down. I started out trying to pick one from each month. Ha! It was impossible for me to pick just one. So here they are ... and I did try to narrow them down. But there are still a a lot and I don't care! I love them all!

we started out the year with ruby learning to walk

the kids were sick various times through out the year but we enjoyed the time spent at home together

we celebrated Dr. Seuss' birthday and many other fun holidays this year ... we even had a leprechaun visit our house!

the kids spent a lot of time playing in mom and dads room ... they LOVE jumping on the bed!
we enjoyed this beautiful word that we live in

we celebrated father's day ... and mothers day too!

the kids loved to stop for shaved ice ... and asked almost every day ... so yummy!

we enjoyed the summer weather and played in the water

ruby had her first haircut

collin turned 4 and started another year of preschool

we went to parades and watched the horses

we went sailing and played in the water at bear lake

sophie turned 6 and started 1st grade

we spent many, many evenings outside playing with chalk, riding scooters, and bikes {the kids learned how to ride 2 wheelers}

we went to both the county and state fair

we celebrated Halloween in style and enjoyed running through a nearby apple orchard

snow came early this year ... the kids loved it {but we did not have a white Christmas!}

mom took silly pictures of the kids

sophie won 2 awards for her reflections entry

ruby turned 2 ... and became her independent self

we celebrated the holidays with family parties, school programs, and a visit from Santa and his reindeer!
What a great year 2010 was!
I hope 2011 brings as much happiness and memories. We are so blessed.
Happy New Year!
