Stats At Two Months

Here is Lyla at her 2 month doctor visit.  And uummm .... does she not look SO big in that picture.  Where did my little newborn go?  She is just as delicious though, so I'll take her!

Lyla's Two Month Stats:
Weight: 12 pounds 1 ounce
{75th Percentile}
Height: 24.8 inches
{95th Percentile}
Head: 15 1/2 inches
{50th Percentile}

Her doctor said she is doing great, although she does have torticolis which is a condition in which her head is tilted to one side and turned toward the opposite side. {You can see it in the above picture} It is caused by having tight muscles on one side of the neck and weak muscles on the other side of the neck.  Ruby had this too. So we are starting physical therapy and doing stretches at home along with some additional dreaded tummy time.  She has a mild flat spot on her head, but hopefully with the therapy her head will correct itself and she won't have to wear a helmet.

And just for fun, here are some cute pictures of Lyla from my phone.  Love this girl!

When having sick kids is not all bad

We have been sick. Well, the kids have been. And just when they all get better ... and things get back to normal ... someone else gets sick.

This time around it is Collin. I am sure everyone else will soon follow. Although I hope not. I have been to the doctors 4 times in 2 weeks. And filled 4 prescriptions.

I have resorted to writing a medicine schedule down for each kid ... so as not to forget when the last dose was give and to whom it was given to. And the kids hate taking medicine. With the exception of Ruby. She calls hers "princess medicine" because it is pink and tastes so yummy. She would take it all day if I let her.

Because we are sick ... and spend our day following a medicine schedule so to speak, we have been spending all of our time at home. Expect for Sophie. She still goes to school and gets to enjoy the freedom of leaving the house!

We have watched a lot of TV ... and movies. On Saturday feeling like if I had to hear the theme song to Wonder Pets one more time I might scream I decided to come up with something for us all to do.

Play dough! Or Model Magic if you want to get technical. We just call it play dough. It was genius really. At first I only had the attention of the younger two ... but upon seeing what great things could be created, Sophie soon was enjoying herself as well.

We were kept busy for at least an hour. And I put off getting dinner ready and played right along with them. It was perfect. It is times like this when I wonder if having sick kids is really all that bad.

Until I get woken up 476 times that night ... then I long for my kids to be healthy again!

growing

Ruby Jane is growing. Like a weed. I know I always say this but well, she is.

Nine months old and performing new tricks. Tricks that are so fun to watch. She is crawling. Yup, crawling. She started two weeks ago. It has evolved from an adorable little butt hop to a full on crawl. She is getting good. And fast. Well not really, but a lot faster than she was. And it makes her soOoo happy. Grandpa describes it as "just getting her drivers license!" I would agree.

And cheerios. She is eating cheerios. She is starting to eat table food. She has been a gager and a choker, but I think she is getting the hang of it. And loves it. I am excited about this one. Excited that soon I may not feel the need to dress myself in a full body suite when I feed her in order to avoid the spray of baby food that comes out of her mouth every time I feed her. Ya, that will be nice.

Ruby had her 9 month doctor visit. Not her favorite visit so far. Let's just say there were tears. A lot of tears, topped off with a prescription for amoxicillin. Poor girl had a double ear infection and I had no clue. That is how good she is.

We love you Ruby. You are getting soOoo big.

A while ago my sister told me that I needed to put myself and Logan into my pictures more because my kids won't want only pictures of themselves with invisible parents. They will want to know what their parents were doing and how they looked back in the day. I listened to her advise, but didn't really heed it. Then today I read a post about just what my sister had mentioned to me. It really got me thinking. I thought about how I wanted my children to remember the things we did together and I decided that I would take that challenge upon me and try to put myself into my pictures more. And I learned that there are some fun ways to go about it - more that just handing your camera to someone else, although that is good too. So here is my first attempt at putting myself into my pictures. I like it. It's fun!

4 MONTHS!!!

Ruby Jane is 4 months old.  I can't believe how big she is getting and how much she grows and changes every day.  I feel so blessed to have this little lady.  She is still the sweetest baby ever.  The baby we never had.  She eats good, sleeps good, and poops good.  What more could I ask for?  She never cries, and has an adorable little smile.   It melts my heart.  She talks up a storm, and can always be found with a fist in her mouth.  She is starting to play with and reach for toys, and loves to sit in her bumbo and exersaucer.  She is still going to therapy for her torticollis, but is doing so well.  She has such good head control now and holds her head up straight the majority of the time.  She is still my biggest baby - but as the doctor told me "she isn't chunky!" Here are her stats:  She weighed 13 lbs 2 oz (50%) and was 25 in long (85%).  I just love his little girl and can't stand the fact that she is growing up {sigh}!  I want her to be my little baby forever.  With Sophie and Collin I wished for them to be 6 months old (they were extremely colicky babies) but with Ruby I don't want her to hit the 6 month milestone.  I love you Rubes!

Kindergarten Shots!

Sophie got her Kindergarten shots this week.  I can't believe my little Soph  is old enough to be starting Kindergarten.  Man time flies!  We still aren't 100% sure if we are going to send her (her birthday is only 5 days before the deadline) but we are leaning towards it and I wanted her to just be ready.  I feel like academically she is totally ready, but emotionally I am not so sure.  They grow and mature so fast though.  So much can change between now and September.  Anyway, she was brave.  It was a traumatizing experience for both me and her.  I was so worried just because she would know what was about to happen.  I knew she would like cry like crazy, and she did.  Right before the nurse gave them to her, she asked "Is is going to hurt real bad?"  The nurse told her it would hurt, but only for a minute.  It was heart wrenching watching the first needle go in and seeing her body totally tense up and jerk.  Poor girl.  I think she felt like she had been lied to.  She made it though.  And some pink bubble gum ice cream helped to make things feel all better again!  Ice cream always makes everything all better!!
