May 31, 2013. Ruby's Spring Recital.

Ruby has her Spring dance recital. She was so excited for it and could hardly wait for the day to arrive. I think she was most excited to wear her lady by costume, but I think she likes being up on the big stage too. I love going to these recitals. I laugh so much. They are a little bit like going to a comedy routine!!! All the girls are sooo cute up there doing their thing. Ruby did awesome, and knew most of the steps to her dances. Such a pretty ballerina!!

Sagittarius

Sophie had her ballet recital this week.  I was so excited to see her dance and she did such a good job.  It was a huge production and the auditorium was packed.  I can't believe she wasn't a nervous wreck.  I know I would have been! She really did a fantastic job.  She had lots of rehearsals, and many long, late nights of dancing and she never complained once.  I am so proud of my little dancer!!

Ruby's Recital

Ruby had her first ever dance recital and it was pretty much the cutest thing!  I LOVED watching her perform.  I couldn't believe how brave she was up on stage in front of such a large crowd.  She looked adorable in her costume with her hair up in her ballet bun.  I smiled through the whole performance!

Afterwards she got some flowers from us and her grandma.  She loved them and has been so proud of them ever since.  I think she liked being the star.  I tell you, this girl was made to dance!!!

ballet! ballet! BALLET!!!

Ruby started a little ballet and tap class this week.  She was born to dance.  She dances wherever she goes ...prancing and lifting her leg up in a mini arabesque.  She was so excited.  I took her to pick out a leotard and she instantly fell in love with the first pink one that she saw.  It does look really cute on her though!

I stayed and watcher her first class.  It was the most adorable and funny class ever.  I loved watching Ruby try to imitate the steps that her teacher was doing...I couldn't help but chuckle as my little girl all dressed in pink, with sunshine arms, sashed across the room!

Happy dancing Ruby Jane!!

The Nutcracker

One of Sophie's wants this Christmas was to go see the Nutcracker ... and Logan made it happen.  He purchased two tickets for Sophie and I to go!  It was such a fun night hanging out with my girl!

She was sooOOo excited!  We dressed up all fancy like and headed off to the ballet.  She could barely contain herself when she saw the Capital Theatre all lit up with giant Nutcrackers in the window.

We were a little early so we went across the street and indulged in some yummy hot cocoa and creme brulee!

 Delicious!

Sophie took a couple sip of her hot cocoa and then danced around the little restaurant  showing me all of her ballet steps she has been learning in her class.

Soon it was time to head inside ... but not without some pictures!  I just love her excited smile!

Once inside she couldn't think about anything but a nutcracker souvenir.  She had a hard time deciding between a tree ornament or an actual nutcracker.  Ultimately she chose the nutcracker and it hasn't left her side yet!

I was pleasantly surprised by just how much she like the performance.  She sat and watched intently the entire time clapping along with the audience at the appropriate times.  One of my favorite moments was watching her wave back to Mother Buffoon.  She loved every minute of it!

On the ride home we sang Christmas carols and talked about our favorite parts of the night.  I love my little lady and I am so glad that I was able to spend the evening with her.  Thanks babe for putting it all together for us!

ballet

The girls around our house have a slight obsession with ballet lately. They are constantly twirling, spinning, and moving around in ways that appear to them to be the most graceful!

On top of that, Sophie has been begging us to put her in a ballet class. And we have tried, but who knew classes only registered in the fall. So she had to wait until we we were finally able to get her in a class. And she was thrilled!

These pictures are of her before her first class. Parents are't allowed to watch the actual classes ... but she looked so cute in her new leotard, tights, and shoes that I couldn't pass up the opportunity to capture her in that moment.

I was worried she might be disappointed when she found out that ballet isn't always what she has pictured in her mind, but she seemed to like her first class and had a great time. She showed us how she learned to skip with her knees really high and how to walk lightly instead of thudding like elephants!

Here is to beautiful, graceful, sweet ballerinas!
