July 20, 2013. Neighborhood Picnic and Parade.

Last weekend our neighborhood had its annual Neighborhood Picnic and Parade. I think this is the kids most favorite and loved activity that we attend. They look forward to it each July. This year they invited some new neighbor friends and I think that even increased their excitement being able to share it with them. The Primary plans this activity and with the help of many puts it on. Being that I am now serving in the Primary Presidency, this activity was a lot more stressful for me this year, but everything went well and a good time was had by all!

Some highlights include:
a trip to Hobby Lobby to by decorations for our bikes
washing and decorating our bikes
a bike parade where Sophie threw out our left over parade candy to the parade watchers
a yummy BBQ at the park
face painting
games
a candy cannon
a giant slip n slide
volleyball
prizes, treats, and popsicles +
good friends

July 15, 2013. Lagoon!

We went to Lagoon for family night this week. Lyla isn't much for the rides, she is kind of a scared y cat, but she seemed to enjoy them when she could ride with someone. I thought this picture of the girls on Bulgy the Whale was too cute not to post. The big kids had fun riding on some of the bigger rides all by themselves. How did I get kids big enough to ride rides without me?!?!

For Collin

Dear Collin,
You've been seven for a week now and I am just getting the chance to sit down and write your your birthday letter. Time flies. Seven years ago I held you in my arms for the first time. You brought a special love and energy to our home...and you still do!

Collin you are one smart boy! You do well in school and love learning. You love facts and science. Your bedtime stories usually consist of books about the solar system, volcanoes, dinosaurs, or the human body. You are a great speller and you have an amazing memory often memorizing things having only seen them once, like your spelling words at school. You love math. You and Sophie can often be found quizzing each other on math facts. And you love reading. You are always asking for new books to read and you love finding new chapter books to get into.

Collin from the moment you were born you have been full of energy. From a tiny baby you were a jumper, and you still are. You jump all over our house, and everywhere you go. You are constantly moving and rarely sit still for a moment. You would rather be out running with friends, or riding your bike or skateboard than sitting inside watching TV.

You such a sweet boy and the best brother your sisters could ask for. They are so lucky to have a brother like you. They look up to you and you guys share such a great friendship. I hope that never changes. When you are gone, they can hardly wait until you are home again. You also have a special relationship with your Dad. You love spending time with him whether it is going on dates, racing BMX, or playing Pokemon. He is a great example to you.

Your favorite things as you turn seven are: BMX racing, Pokemon, and playing with friends. Your favorite book right now is Turbo (you can't wait for the movie to be out), your favorite color is red, and your favorite food is pizza.

Collin, we love you so much! You are such a blessing to our family.
Love,
Your Mom

July 9, 2013. Collin had a birthday!

Collin turned seven! His actual birthday is on the 10th, but Logan had to work on that day so we celebrated on the 9th! He had a great day. I decided to take the year off of friend parties this year, so we just celebrated with family. And I loved it! Collin really wanted to go to Boondocks for his birthday so we started our celebrating there. We played laser tag, went go-cart racing, and played games until we had our fill! Collin is quite the gamer and can't get enough of earning those tickets. He had a ton and was able to get some junk great prizes! He was happy! Then we headed home and had a small BBQ with Grandma/Grandpa Polar Bear, and Grandpa Sheep followed by presents and cake! I made Collin a BMX cake this year and it turned out awesome! He loved his presents and had a blast trying to ride the rip stick and catching some big air on his new jump! He ended the night grumpy and tired from so much fun!!! Happy Birthday Bud! I hope you had a great day!

July 4, 2013

We had a fun 4th of July this year. We started our day off with the West Bountiful Parade. We LOVE this parade! The kids always have so much fun and this year was no exception. Grandpa got us really good seats in the shade. It was fun having "Grandpa Sheep" there to share in our fun. We really missed Grandma though and it wasn't quite the same without her. After the parade, we had lunch at Grandpa's house and then headed home for some naps.  After naps, we went to see Despicable Me 2. The kids loved it! And then we headed home for some dinner and fireworks. Thanks "Grandma Polar Bear"!! It was a great day!

June 29, 2013. Fun at Station Park!

The fun outdoor shopping mall near our house had a grand opening for some of its stores a couple of weekends ago. I had heard that they were going to have Merida from the movie Brave and Iron Man there as part of their celebration. I thought it would be fun to take the kids but was a little hesitant because I was worried it was going to be so crowded. But we decided to go anyway. I am glad that we did. There was hardly anyone there and the kids loved every second of it. We might as well have told the girls that we were going to Disneyland. They were stoked! Sophie just had to bring her bear from the movie and she even printed out and colored a picture for Merida to sign. After we met the characters, we treated the kids to some candy from the fun new candy shop, watched a dog show, had our faces painted, met some neat reptiles, and got balloon animals. Such a fun afternoon!

June 26, 2013.

For months Sophie has been begging me to buy a coconut. Her third grade teacher had talked with the class about them and Sophie told me almost weekly about how sweet their milk was and how she couldn't wait to try one. So I decided to to buy one for her the other day while I was grocery shopping. She was so excited!! She could hardly wait for Logan to get home so we could break into it. She found out the coconut milk wasn't as sweet as she expected it to be. And when we broke into it the coconut was moldy so she didn't even get to try the meat. Bummer! But at least we got to feel like we were on a tropical island for a few minutes at least!!!

slip n slide!

One thing the kids have been really enjoying this Summer has been the slip n slide! This time was especially fun because they got to use the slip n slide that Sophie won in the coloring contest. They thought it was so fun to see if they could slide under the limbo bar on its lowest height without knocking it off. They got pretty good! Cute Ruby isn't quite sure of the whole sliding thing yet and chooses to crawl instead. And little Lyla prefers to watch and cheer the kids on! We are loving our Summer afternoons!!!
