Sophie had her ballet recital this week. I was so excited to see her dance and she did such a good job. It was a huge production and the auditorium was packed. I can't believe she wasn't a nervous wreck. I know I would have been! She really did a fantastic job. She had lots of rehearsals, and many long, late nights of dancing and she never complained once. I am so proud of my little dancer!!
I'm not sure when life got so busy, but it is. Between my schedule, Logan's schedule, and the kids schedule...not to mention the house and the yard, life is busy. But we have been finding some time to have some fun too! One afternoon the kids were totally bored so I decided it was time to forget my list of to-dos and head out to the splash pad. The kids loved it and it was the perfect reminder of what summer time is all about!!
Sophie started taking horseback riding lessons a couple of weeks ago. So far she has LOVED it. She hasn't been the least bit nervous and is so much more confident around animals since she has started. Her teacher is great and is very patient and thorough. Sophie pretty much does it all...brushes and saddles Ace, practices proper riding posture, steers, and her favorite so far...trots! It's been a fun to watch her and brings back a lot of memories for me!
Sophie spent a Saturday afternoon with my parents shopping for the perfect boot for her riding lessons and finally picked out the perfect sparkly ones. She also took my old cowgirl hat from when I was little and spiced it up a bit with a new band and a flower. She is quite the cowgirl! She may have been seen riding her bike in her new boots a few times!! Love her!
It's been 9 months of cuddling, swaddling, and squirming. 9 months of crying laughing, and talking. 9 months of feeding you, putting you to sleep, and changing your diapers. 9 months of you! And time is flying. You have been born for as long as I was pregnant with you and somehow it seems to have gone twice as fast. You are growing up so quickly. What a sweet, fun, and sometimes challenging little lady you have become.
This past month you learned to sit up on your own...and there is NO keeping you down now. Diaper changes just became a lot more challenging. As have things like bed time, bath time, and getting you dressed. You are a wiggler and like to be on the move, all the time!
Napping has been my biggest challenge this month with you. Your naps have been short and by the end of the day both you and I are frazzled. I hope that this is just a stage...one that we will overcome soon! But despite this challenge, you are happy most of the time and love to be in on all the action.
My favorite thing about you this month is your loves. You are not cuddly by any means, but my heart bursts each time you lean your little head into me for a kiss or a little squeeze. They don't last long, but I think it is something that we both love!
I love you Lyla. What a blessing you are. Happy 9 months baby girl!!
I thought it might be fun to document the last day of school . I always take pictures on the first day of school, why not the last day also? It is just as momentous. I thought it would be fun to have the kids wear the same clothes they wore on the first day to get a really good look at how much they have grown through out the year. And my how they have grown!! I have such great kids.
The obvious difference with Collin is his hair...one little haircut and he looks older and wiser!
I die over how much Sophie has grown. You can't see it too much in the first picture group, but the second one I look at and think "where did my baby go?" Her little girl look is gone. I think a lot of it has to do with her brand spankin' new front teeth. This year she lost 4 teeth. Love her!
We have been blessed with such great teachers. I love the picture of Sophie with her teacher. Both kids really liked their teachers, but Sophie always develops a close relationship with hers. When I look at this picture I see a girl who just loves her teacher...and I see an amazing teacher who loves her job and her students. I am grateful for that. I know that in a couple of days Sophie will really miss Mrs. Prince and will want to stop by her house to say "hi." I don't think Collin will miss school too much, he is probably more excited to be out of school and ready for the lazy days of Summer!!
The outdoor season of BMX has started back up again. This season the girls have been into it too! Ruby loves to ride her Strider bike on the track and is actually getting really good. She participated in the big wheel race a couple of weeks ago and won a trophy! Sophie has enjoyed riding around the track as well. She wants a race bike...but we aren't quite sure it is something that she really wants to do. We are thinking horseback riding lessons might be a better fit. We'll see. Collin and Logan still LOVE it and can't wait to race each week!
