First Bites

Lyla started eating solids!!

I have been totally dreading this.  Up until this point she has been such a struggle to feed that I haven't want to add any additional feeding times to fight with.  But it was time.  And she has been doing great.  I decided to start with pears instead of the traditional cereal.  She wasn't quite sure about it the first feeding, but has loved them ever since.

I have been wanting to venture into making my own baby food, but can't quite bring myself to give up the convenience of the jarred food from the store.  I am thinking I might try a combination!

She sure is a cute little eater!

President's Day Weekend

We had a great long weekend.  It was nice to have a break from the regular school routine and having Logan home the entire weekend was definitely the icing on the cake.  We kept busy and had a great time together as a family.  We had dinner with friends, went tubing at Soldier Hollow {such a great time!}, popped pop corn and watched a movie, and visited the new Natural History Museum.

The kids loved the museum and spent the afternoon running from one attraction to another.  Logan and I enjoyed ourselves as well and can't wait to go back without the kids to really take it all in!

She is loving this toy!  She eats all the toys and bounces around like crazy...I'm thinking it might be time to get out the jumperoo!

Lyla, Month V

To My Lyla:

As I sit here writing this letter to you, you sit contentedly on my lap.  At 5 months, you are such a happy content long as you are being held.  You LOVE to be in someones arms.  And who can resist your chubby cheeks, big eyes, and fly away hair!  If I don't quickly come to your rescue, your Daddy or big sister, Sophie does.

Although you are held a lot, you have mastered the art of rolling.  For several weeks you have been rolling from your back to your tummy always getting upset that you were stuck on your dreaded tummy.  But in the last couple of days, you have learned just how to go from your tummy to your back.  Each time it startles you but if I follow it with a "Yeah Lyla!" you seem pretty pleased with yourself.

My favorite thing about you this month is the way you flap your arms and kick your legs in excitement when you see something that you like.  It is the cutest thing ever.  I go get you from a flap your arms and kick your legs.  I come into the room while you are playing on the flap your arms and kick your legs.  Your sisters and brothers do a little dance to entertain flap your arms and kick your legs.  I can't get enough of it.  I hope it isn't something that you quite doing anytime soon!

I love you to he moon and back!  Happy 5 months baby girl!

a month in photos...January

At the start of the year, I really wanted to do a picture a day project.  While I do take out my camera on most days, there are days, weeks even where I don't and I just knew that it was going to stress me out.  And with a new baby I knew that I really didn't need to add one more thing to my already long list of things that may or may not get done.  So when I came across the month in photos from simple as that I was stoked.  This was just what I needed.   A less stress photo project that captures my kids, our life, and still lets me work on my photography skills!  Hooray!!!

So here it it...January in photos!

In January we spent a lot of time at home...
...celebrating Dad's birthday...we love him!
...painting our toe nails
...reading stories
...doing everyday things...bath time
...legos, legos, and more legos
...playing with toys
...and enjoying one another

there was also...
...BMX races for Logan and Collin
...SEP conferences...the kids are doing so well in school visits...well checks ups!
