in their easter clothes
last sunday.

i {heart} new easter dresses + sweaters!

originally i planned to only have the kids in the picture, but ruby was having a rough morning and wouldn't let logan put her down ... so he joined in too. and he looks just as good as the kids! too bad he doesn't have a matching tie.

looking forward to easter weekend ... and spring break!!

fix it friday #48

Time for fix it friday at i heart faces.

my edit

For today fix it friday I ...
  • cropped image to 5x7
  • lightened it using levels
  • then ran coffee shop's perfect portrait action ... where I whitened the whites of her eyes, defined her eyes, and smoothed out her skin (lowered opacity to taste).
  • then I ran coffee shop's little perk action just to give it a little more pop of color.

i heart faces - angles

I bought some hoola hoops at the dollar store and the kids LOVED them! They spent all morning hoola hooping ... or at least trying!

Ruby is fifteen months. Well technically almost sixteen ... this post is long overdue. But she was sick. And I wanted to get some pics of my healthy, sweet little girl for this post, so I waited. But guess what folks? She had other plans ... and pictures were not a part of them!

"Hey, I said NO pictures!"
Okay Rubes ... but maybe just a few when you aren't looking!

Anyway, she is growing like a weed and is the cutest little lady you have ever seen. So here are some facts about Miss Ruby Jane at fifteen months:

she weighs 19 lbs 13 oz
she now has 3 teeth
her signature move is her head shake "no"
she still doesn't talk much ...
but can say hot, night night, mama, dada, bye
she LOVES to be outside
she spends most of her day pacing around
her favorite food is strawberries
she still likes the dishwasher
she takes things out of any cupboard she can get open
this girl loves to snack and shrieks for food whenever the cupboard gets opened
she growls when she sees a dinosaur and barks when she sees a dog
she LOVES books and can often be found carrying one around
she is still a good sleeper ... still an early riser ... and is transitioning to only 1 nap per day
she LOVES music
she likes to watch TV ... especially Barney
she still drinks a bottle
she loves her binky and lovey
she has given up on signing everything except for more and water
she is a feisty little lady and doesn't get along well with anyone her size
she can point to her nose, eyes, and mouth
she loves to brush her teeth
she has the cutest smile and I can't get enough of her!

green day

St. Patrick's Day snuck up on me this year. It wasn't until I was tucking Sophie in bed last night that I remembered ... when she mentioned that she needed to wear green tomorrow. So of course we all dressed in green to protect ourselves from getting pinched and then later I came up with a plan ...

While the kids were busy playing, a leprechaun snuck right inside our house. He left a gold candy trail.

When the kids saw it they were so excited. Collin was in heaven with the sight of a slew load of candy on the ground. Because to him nothing could be better.

They immediately started picking it up and following the trail. Once their hands got full, they started filling their shirts. The trail led to three huge, green clover cookies ... and more gold candy.

Sophie was so excited and exclaimed "Cookies! Let's eat!" Collin thought they were neat too but was hoping to find more candy on the ground! That boy LOVES his candy. They both ate their cookies.

Sophie licking off the frosting ... and then wanting a new one.

and Collin eating only a few bites and then moving on to the candy ... his true love!

While we sat and ate our cookies and candy the kids talked about that sneaky, little leprechaun. They wondered how he snuck right by them, and how he got into our house.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

i heart faces - bundled up

The theme this week at i heart faces is bundled up. I hate to think of bundling up. My sights are set on Spring ... and I don't want to look back. We went to the zoo today ... in just our jackets, and it was wonderful. But we did have a lot of fun this past winter.

enough is enough

Enough is enough. I think my poor baby girl has had more sick days since December than she has had well days. Enough is enough. Enough Tylenol. Enough fevers. Enough coughing. Enough doctor visits that result in nothing. Enough sleepless nights. Just enough. I feel as though we have a giant cloud of germs looming over our heads. I need a huge gust of wind to come blow it away.

So we have been doing this a lot lately ... especially today. O my neediness. I can't put the girl down. Yesterday Logan had the day off and I was hoping to get some much needed me time for myself but ended up taking the little lady with me because she would cry anytime I set her down. It was heart breaking. But the afternoon ended up being a pleasant one. She was an angel on our outings and then I was treated to a night out with just Logan. Which was so nice too.

We rock. We read. We cuddle. I wish I knew how to make it all go away. I hate seeing her like this. I miss her smile. I miss her sweet and sassy personality. Get better soon little lady.
Get better soon. But until then, we will rock, read, and cuddle some more.

i heart faces - jump for joy

I don't know of anything that brings my little guy more joy than jumping ... okay, candy definitely does ... but he LOVES jumping! I think he has been jumping from the moment he was born. He sure gave our arms a work out. Even now, you can always find him jumping ... on the couch, around the house, off of furniture, over things, and of course on the bed. He is a jumper!

Hooray for Spring!
Even though it snowed yesterday ... all morning

Spring is spring-ing!
I can't wait to
get rid of the winter coats
start wearing
sandals, capris, and short sleeve shirts
in fun, bright colors.

Curing Cabin Fever

The weather this weekend [and today too] has been so wonderful. I love the sunshine and I love the warmer temperatures [a taste of what lies ahead]. I had to get out. After spending nearly two weeks feeling trapped inside with sick, whiny kids I needed to get out and enjoy what was just outside my door.

On Saturday the kids and I ventured to the park. It was so nice to be out. It was good for me ... it was good for them.

I love that no matter how many times we go to the park ... the same park [although we do go to others sometimes too] the kids always enjoy themselves. You can always find a smile on their face. They played and climbed and swung [although not always cooperatively ... there were plenty of tears among the smiles] and played some more.

And Ruby? Well she just sat in this car and loved every minute of it.

I would try to get her out and she would freak out. She LOVES this little car. Occasionally she would reach down and grab some wood chips, but mostly she just sat there ... content and happy.

I can't wait until we can do this more often. Maybe without the coats!
